Student loan (BAföG) counselling

The government-funded BAföG is the most important financial resource for students everyone without income of their own or whose parents are simply not in funds to support their child. The amount a student can actually receive (if any) depends on your parents’ income, your own income (if you are financially independent from your parents) or your spouse’s income (if you are married).

The AStA’s BAföG counselling provides guidance and tips for every student seeking help. The AStA can help you to deal with questions such as application for the so called “BAföG performance record”, amendments of law and everything else you should know. An individual BAföG consultation appointment should clarify if you are actually eligible for drawing any financial support at all or if your parents’ or your own income is too high.
