The International Student Identity Card (ISIC) is the international student ID issued by the ISIC association. It is the only internationally accepted student ID card and even endorsed by the UNESCO as the unique document for student travel.
Since its launch in 1968, the ISIC has helped over 40 million students to get the most out of their travel experience. With access to a global network of affordable and specialised student services, the ISIC is your passport to more than 41,100 discounts and benefits in 110 countries worldwide.
The ISIC is valid for 16 month (from September to December the next year). You can get yours at one out of over 500 issuing offices in Germany. For example at the AStA, student unions or student travel agencies.
Advantages:
Up to now, the ISIC is your passport to more than 40000 international discounts and benefits. You get discounts on flights, youth hostels and hotels as well as on entrance to the world’s leading museums and theatres worldwide.
But as an owner of the international student ID you get many more. The services and discounts grow on a constant base, so that the ISIC is actually a service card, easing things up a little and making student life more comfortable; be it in Germany or abroad.
But the ISIC provides more than just discounts. It also offers additional services like a communication package called ISIConnect, international travel insurance or a free emergency helpline (ISIC Helpline) for travelling students.
Since this card is an internationally recognised proof of the student status there are even German Universities that issue the ISIC as their regular student ID card.
